In conversation with Elliott Erwitt.

Last night we went to the Cochrane Threatre to see one of the finest photographers of his generation, the one, the only, Elliott Erwitt. The magnum photographer is in London for a couple of days, while two exhibitions of his are being held here, one at the Atlas gallery on his photo sequences and the other at Paul Smith in Mayfair, opening on the 24th. Through this Q&A, we were able to see a slideshow of his archive, while he spoke about them and the story behind the images. We saw a range of his classic images from his famous dog collection to his images of iconic figures, such as Marilyn Monroe and President Nixon. At the end the audience were allowed to ask him questions, such as ‘what do you think of lomography’ and Elliot replied with ‘ I’m not familiar with that’. Erwitt is now in his 80’s and still carries on taking photos everywhere he goes, he is a very funny and a true photographer, keeping to film in a digital age.
